The next generation web

Contributed by Kevin Golding - Fri 07th March 2008

Yesterday saw the first public release of Microsoft's Internet Explorer 8 for developers and early testing. Here at Compliant Group we're happy to say that all our client's websites work as expected in the new browser. In fact, due to our intense focus on standards and usability the new browser will actually offer improvements for a number of browsers looking at our websites.

Take the Woodham Business Connections website for example; with the new features in IE8 members will be able to get meeting dates as a new WebSlice. It's based on a format which has been around a while but this brings the software to support it to the majority of people. Well, it will when it actually gets released in a form most people would consider using it; at this stage anyone even considering the upgrade should probably talk to Woodham's computer guy first.

"Warning for drivers of contract hired and leased cars"

Contributed by Linda Impey - Wed 28th November 2007

In the UK we live in a world of penalty charges and fines. Some of us (and we are one) cynically believe that this is all part of the profit driven business of capitalism!

So, if you are currently driving a contract hired or leased vehicle you must be aware of the "fair wear and tear standard" to avoid a nasty penalty shock when you either return or replace your vehicle. There is a publication issued by the BVRLA which will help you both understand and avoid any large bills. Last year alone it was estimated that the end of contract penalty charges were in excess of £130m so you have been warned!

The BVRLA make it clear that you should keep your vehicles valeted around 4 times per year. This will help reduce the effects of stone-chip damage, removes interior staining, removes traffic grime and identifies the areas of the vehicle that need attention. Their publiction also gives a number of other tips and offers specific advice to help you escape the charges. We can also assist Business Connection Members to keep the repairs costs to a minimum.

So, if you are worried, or would like more advice give Warren a call on 0845 217 9358 BEFORE you return your vehicle at the end of the contract term.

HAPPY MOTORING!!!!!!!!!
